Tuition is offered for the following instruments:

Piano/Keyboards/Organ - Guitar and Bass Guitar - Flute, Clarinet and Sax - Strings (including violin, viola, 'cello and double bass) Drums/Percussion Theory of music - Composition and Orchestration.

A lesson lasts for 30 minutes or occasionally a little longer if necessary.  A mobile service is offered.

Recording Techniques (either computer based or using digital recording hardware) special rates apply.

Examinations

Entry into examinations is at the discretion of the parent/pupil.  My policy is that students should play for enjoyment first and foremost but if they wish to take exams in music then I will support their decision. I use the following examination boards:

A two tier system of payment applies

OPTION 1

Weekly Rate

paid one week in advance and lessons booked on a weekly basis

Terms

£13 per half-hour lesson

A discount of £3 is offered for two pupils within one hour slot  i.e. £23

Lessons can be booked at any time subject to availability

OPTION 2

Salary Rate (reduced)

paid before 25th day of each month.* 

Terms

A fixed monthly payment of £40.  [£480 per annum]

A considerable discount of £10 is still offered for two pupils within one hour slot i.e. £70

If the student cancels the fee is still due but I endeavour to offer an alternative time or an extended lesson during a subsequent visit if possible.

If I occasionally have to cancel a visit, the fee in the current or following month is adjusted. If the fee is paid by direct debit then a refund is given. This amounts to £9.23 per lesson refunded.

I am usually prepared to teach during most bank holiday Mondays if requested to do so but I do not work Good Friday, and Easter Sunday or from December 23rd to January 1st inclusive. These absences are built into my Option 2 payment concession.

(*) The deadline date 25th of the month is desirable to allow me to keep my accounts in order. If you find this inconvenient please mention it to me.

In return I endeavour to maintain steady progress with regard to your child’s musical education, to give good value, to offer help or/and advice in any related musical activity – school projects, G.C.S.E. and A level, composition and so forth - and to make lessons fun but focused.
