Earthbeat Music Website

Summer Term Exams

New Design

Due to a change of policy with the ISP regarding the discontinuation of some Front Page Facilities we have been required to change the design program to Dreamweaver, the 'industry standard' web design application. Subsequently it was decided that a complete new web page design would be the best option.

New Features

Many new features have now become available to enhance the functionality of the web site. In particular the resource page has the potential to become useful for passing on documents, pieces, scales and audio samples to the students.

Initially these items are being protected by a communal page accessed by a given username and password. Plans for the not too distant future are for each student to have access to a totally private page where files specific only to themselves at a given time can be passed over. At this juncture the communal page will still remain in service for the convenience of the wider 'Earthbeat' community to browse for pieces, scales and backing tracks etc.... completely free of charge of course.

At this early stage the number of documents available is not overwhelming but their number is growing on a daily basis. Just look for files relating to your specific instrument.

Wallpaper music is now not foist upon the browser as it was before. Most pages have a sound sample which will only play if selected.

Access to all features

Some browsers may throw up the message that an Active x plug-in required to show all the features. This relates to music players and video players on various pages. Without this plug-in all features are not available. Despite any dire warnings this plug-in is regarded as safe for this site.

Scorch

To be able to view music a Scorch plug-in is required. This is easily found and downloaded. Just follow the link on the music page you may have opened and follow instructions when directed to the Sibelius Web Site. This is perfectly safe and only needs to be downloaded once. Once it is installed access to all Earthbeat's music is assured and also to the huge library at Sibelius. If any one has already downloaded Scorch and is experiencing difficulty it may be because later files have been uploaded using a newer version. Try downloading the latest version of Scorch and this may well solve the problem.

Busy Period This Time

This is quite a busy period for those taking music exams this time. At the last count there are 13 students who are taking the Associated Board Exam during the coming session. All but two are practical examinations

These ABRSM entries consist of two taking grades 2 in piano, 1 taking grade 1 in piano and another taking grade 1 on the flute.Just the flautist is being examined at the Bolton Centre, the others at Congleton.

Private web page

Results will now be posted on a private page on the site from around July 20th as a provisional date. This could change however so keep posted. A username and password will be issued to the candidates nearer the time.

Welcome to New Students

Welcome to Anna, Lucy, Harrison, Lauren, Georgie and Lizzy - not forgetting Stephen of course. Hope your tuition is both enjoyable and opens the door to a lifetime skill in music.
